Lionel Messi/Tucker
After the failure to win at the 2006 world cup, we have trained harder and longer to win it this time. With our new coach and soccer star Diego Maradona to lead us there we will win this. Pressure will not get to me because of all of the years I have played for Barcelona, one of the most dominant teams in the world. Our team has been brought up in a culture based around soccer has given us experience in playing soccer other teams would not have. I feel confident that we can win our division because most of the other teams have not made any real accomplishments in the past 4 years. Although I am very confident about our ability to win the world cup I do not want it to go to our heads. The accident I had on friday hopefully will not occur again during our campaign in south africa, luckily It was not too serious and I can still play (knock on wood). The World cup in south africa will either make or break me in the eyes of my country and the world. If I can bring the world cup to my country the doubts people will have had about me will vanish and I will be hailed as one of the top soccer players to play the game. On the other hand, If I do not win the world cup the doubts people have about me will surface with them saying "I told you he was not any good", but that would not be nearly as bad as having the shame of letting my country down in one of the best chances we have had to win the world cup in nearly 30 years. All I can do is try my best to help take Argentina to the top!

It is awesome how strongly into soccer Argentina is. If they won Argentina's national unity would be insanely high. Soccer seems to be a centripetal force and a centrifugal force so it really is make or break.
ReplyDeleteFirst: Lionel Messi wont say "knock on wood".....but they do put a lot on these games and one screw up and you'll lose the game and your teams and countries faith and respect.
ReplyDeleteThe only doubt people are having about Lionel Messi is not that he is not able to lay at the highest level of football but whether he can maintain that level while he is playing for Argentina's national squad. His play has been impeccable with Barcelona, consistently putting the ball into the back of the net 34 times tying the single season league record set by (not Cristiano) Ronaldo and only 4 goals behind the all-time leader. With these kind of numbers, he truly deserves the title of FIFA World Player of the Year and deserves to make a great run with his international team for the World Cup. However, his production with Argentina hasn't been as great as he's only scored 4 goals in 18 matches played with over 1600 minutes of playing time. Really whether Lionel Messi can begin to produce goals will determine just how far Argentina can go into this World Cup tournament and whether he is truly worthy of being written down in the record books as one of the greatest, if not the greatest footballer of his generation.
ReplyDeleteummmmmmmmm well i gotta say is that these people risk to much for a "game"(everyone knows soccers a sport not a game)The reason they put alot into this "game" is because its thier way to win respect from not only thier own country but from others as well to show that thier the top because they won the "world" cup. Now if the "world" cup isnt enough there's also the money that you get for playing for that country. If your a good player the country will pay you good money to play for them.
