Nathan Beutler/ Argentina

Argentina Fifa World Cup
The players of the Argentina soccer team are Mariano ANDUJAR, Diego POZO, Sergio ROMERO, Sergio AGUERO, Sebastian BLANCO, Mario BOLATTI, Nicolas BURDISSO, Fabricio COLOCCINI, Jesus DATOLO, Martin DEMICHELIS, Angel DI MARIA, Ariel GARCE, Jonas GUTIERREZ, Gabriel HEINZE, Gonzalo HIGUAIN, Juan INSAURRALDE, Ezequiel LAVEZZI, Javier MASCHERANO, Juan MERCIER, Lionel MESSI, Diego MILITO, Nicolas OTAMENDI, Martin PALERMO, Javier PASTORE, Clemente RODRIGUEZ, Walter SAMUEL, Maxi RODRIGUEZ, Jose SOSA, Juan VERON, and Carlos TEVEZ. Argentina has won the soccer world cup two times, in 1978 and in 1986. The team is controlled by the Argentine Football Association. Argentina is located in south America below Brazil. The players on the team are paid very well, for example Lionel Messi makes about $35,800,000/yr. Argentina is one of the only teams that has won the World Cup, the Confederations Cup, and the Olympic tournament. Argentina has been a continuously engaging team, right now they are ranked 7th in the FIFA rankings and 7th in the Elo rankings, and have been ranked 1st in both Fifa and Elo in the past 3 years. They will be wearing baby blue striped shirts with black shorts and white sock instead of their home outfit of solid blue shirt , white shorts and blue socks. Right now they are participating in the qualifiers to see if they will be competing in the championships. The Argentinians have won 2 world cups and many other widely recognized competitions so I think they will be in the finals or better.

  1. 35 million is a ton of money for one person. If the team doesn't win I bet he will have a lower salary next year. Its been a while since they have won a FIFA World Cup so the inexperience of not having anyone on the team on the team that won the Cup back then will give them some inexperience toward winning the World Cup. They have a strong team though so they have a better chance than anyone to win it!

  2. As someone who knows the sport of soccer relatively well, I will say that Argentina has the talent to really make a run at this world cup title. Not only because they are in possession of the best footballer in this world in this point in time but because they have a very talented goalkeeper in Sergio Romero as well as a solid starting eleven featuring versatile midfielder Javier Mascherano, experienced Premier League midfielder Carlos Tevez, and Liga BBVA star strikers in Sergio Aguero and Gonzalo Higuain combined for 39 goals in the past 2009-2010 Liga BBVA season. But the player that just seems to stand out in the starting 11 is Lionel Messi who was the top scorer in the Liga BBVA with Barcelona and he will be the difference. His ability to score goals and really test defenses with his agility and scoring ability will be the difference for Argentina's run at this world cup title.

  3. I think spending so much money on sports like these is a big deal. In MDC you can support a sports team, but some of these countries are less developed and they are still so in to soccer that they are willing to spend lots of money on a team. This money could go to helping the infrastructure and economy of the country, but on the other hand, sport is a major centripetal force and when it brings people together it creates nationalism.
